We finally decided to have our own blog to give all the information concerning our developments but also to discuss directly with you and get your feedback and your thoughts about what is going on in the ebook world.
We will try to keep this blog as updated as possible. We will also try to give our analysis on the current market trends and some hints and explanations on the current and future technologies.
Don't hesitate to let us know what you think of this blog.

Im the first? :)
Still waiting for release.
I'll second that request, do we have a release date yet?
And I must be the third! I check your site once a day hoping for a release date. But i know you want input. Well I am new to ebooks and have done much research over the last few weeks. Seems like Sony is lame and Iliad is very cool but way too expensive plus you have the new screen. I just downloaded mobipocket and discovered that the reader imports pdf files (pdf books) and translates them to mobipocket almost perfectly. This was a big concern for me as many of the texts I wish to read are in pdf format. So this means I hope your device handles mobipocket! Thanks!
Same as all the rest , how about a date

Bonjour, sera-t-il possible de ne pas avoir de barre sur le coté en mode paysage afin de profiter de toute la largeur de l'ecran ?
merci
Nice to have you blogging finally! :-)
I'm ready to order! I have been using a Sony Reader and find the fact that I must use their poorly organized and limited bookstore a real drag! I do like the library that comes with the Sony software though, and hope the Cybook will eventually have a similarly easy way to organize my e-books on my computer.
Hi could you brief us on which formats will be supported initially. Also do you plan CHM support?
Thanks in advance.
p.s. Waiting to pre'order so please give us a date.
thx
Hi. Good Idea this blog !
Hey Balok, you think they're incompetent but where did you see that Boken has already written about a date of release ?
In my opinion, the delay seems quite usual in this type of usiness: just think about it:
Sony Reader prs 505: No date of release
Hanlin v9: No date of release (and it was july 07 in the beginning !).
...and I think (and hope :) )that the Cybook will be released before all these devices !
Pllleeeaaasssssse,
tell us the date AND the Price....
Hello,
Sice you are expecting feedback here are several comments about the ebook reader.
- I see these devices as ebook readers only, not to listen music appointments or anything else. So the most important quality on the device is how the screen seems like a printed paper.
- I read some scaned comics (the old ones, that are impossible to acquire), I tried to scale those scaned images to the current ebook readers resolution, and seems that is not enough to read clearly the dialogs. PLease let me know if I am wrong.
- It seems that people needs some margin on the books, so in several examples (published images) the displayed books have a margin on the screen. I suggest to use a white frame (same color and if possible texture), in that way the reader will be comfortable reading when using the full screen to display the content.
- It is important to support several formats including the ¿new? ones in xml, pdf, doc, txt, rtf, and I know that it supports jpeg but how about the cbr and cbz that are sets of compressed jpeg files?
Regards,
Javier
Do you reckon you'll release it before the end of September? Whats with all the secrecy? Thanks...
The dictionary is great, but the question is: will there be a translation tool as well?
I think it would be the best to concentrate on features regarding e-reading, so cut out the mp3 player and introduce a translation helper, bookmarks and so on...

No 1.: They said it would be released in September, and I doubt that will happen, since they haven't given us an exact date. That's why I think they messed up. The delay may be usual in this kind of business, but it is not acceptable. They should be able to anticipate delays, rather than telling us it will be available in September when they don't know if they'll be able to meet that deadline.
I hope it'll be released before Christmas. How's the storage like? It seems that ebooks textbooks are becoming more popular and many would be in .PDF format. If this ebook device can support such textbooks, then kids/college students would not need to carry heavy bags. Many Asian students are carrying very heavy school bags ... as some schools here require school children to bring a laptop to class everyday. Thus parents are requesting that their children use ebooks instead (or books on CR-ROM). I'm still using the old Cytale (too heavy) and I'm looking forward to the Gen3 version! Previously I used HP's Jornada 720 but it's too small and the battery doesn't last.

I am definitely buying this and have many hundreds of pdf's and lit files that I want to add in. I would like to organise these files whilst waiting. Will you be providing software for organising and transferring files or do only use mobipocket as it seems from this blog?
I second all the other comments about release date and price.
Frankly, as a publisher of ebooks (as well as paper books) (http://www.blackvelvetseductions.com) I think that the ebook market is really hungry for a well thought out, reasonably priced, well executed ebook reader. I believe that once there is a device which overcomes the problems of some of the earlier devices e-books will soar in popularity.
I certainly look forward to hearing more about the reader.
I do hope that your company will interface with publishers of ebooks. We have often discussed the possibility of recommending an ebook reader on our site and in our newsletters to ease those readers who are ebook curious into reading ebooks, but the problem has always been which reader, and whether we would have enough information about the product to answer questions and offer support to our site visitors who purchase the device on our recommendation.
Though there have been many ebook readers, it seems that each one has some drawback...either the screen...the size...the formats supported...the battery life.
I look forward to hearing more about your ebook reader. I will be eagerly following the blog looking for additional information on price and release date as well as release of the product in the US market.
Pourquoi votre entreprise qui est francaise n'a pas choisi la langue francaise pour ce blog ? Je trouve cela dommage.
Like everyone else, I want to know the price because I'm wondering how long it will take me to get the money to buy one.
I'm also curious if the library will support using directories on the SD card as that makes large libraries much more usable.
Hooray! Finally an ebook reader that makes sense. I just hope the price point does too. I've had e-books published since 1996 and the biggest show stopper has been NOT haveing a good, reasonably priced reader. A simple, straightforward reader. Rocket was on the right track in 1999, but blew it. I can hardly wait to see this product.
I hope I'll find one to buy in Romania!
I want to second an earlier comment about the desirability of a translation function. I am puzzeled that in the videos you mention the look-up (lexicon) function but don't mention the translation function. I cannot imagine that the one can exist without the other. Yet the translation function is what makes e-reading for the great comunity of foreignlanguage readers/learners really attractive.
